Hmmmm.
Well, listen.
There are a number of changes that Piratia has to go through in order to become truly playable.
What makes a game interesting isn't the modifications themselves, but a well-balanced and thoughtfully designed gameplay experience.
Give me the same knowledge that the top admins of this project have, plus a team of 2–3 dedicated people, and I could recreate Piratia from scratch at a level where everyone would find something they enjoy.
You know what I mean? It's incredibly difficult to satisfy everyone.
Some people love dominating and fighting. Others like spending money, becoming the #1 player, insulting everyone in chat, and feeling superior. And some simply love the game itself — and there are plenty of us here.
How many times have I encountered completely corrupted servers and gameplay designed entirely around a player's ability to pay? Thousands.
How many of those projects actually survived? Very few.
Did they manage to keep an active player base? No.
Here's the thing: we're not living in 2001 anymore, when private servers were booming like Lineage 2, WoW, Perfect World, and other top games.
Ideally, you'd gather a strong community of 100–200 genuine fans of the game and just enjoy playing together.
But to make that happen, you either need to be a damn genius or have a team of like-minded people.
For example, I'm currently developing and learning on my own broken server, trying to build something that I can eventually polish into a proper project. While I'm learning, I'm also taking into account my 20 years of experience with the game and thinking about what different types of players might enjoy. My goal is to make every playstyle viable and accessible.
At its core, this game has the potential to be endlessly interesting. You just need capable hands and the right tools to work with the client and game files.
New features and systems don't ruin the game — they modernize it.
What's important is putting your heart into the game and your project, not chasing financial gain. If you do that, players will come, and monetization will follow naturally.
You know, it's one of those situations where:
Creating content that people enjoy playing — EASY.
Actually making it happen — not really possible right now xD.
Personally, I'd gladly go back to the old-school patch era, somewhere between 1.36 and 2.0, but with modern integrations, a new engine, and quality-of-life improvements from the 2020s. I'd happily play on a server with an active community and a healthy player base.
But nowadays, that's extremely time-consuming, incredibly difficult, and requires both financial investment and a lot of mental effort for something we all love.
Still, everyone has their own goals.
And because of that... we get what we get.
